Affiliate Marketing is a way for normal people like you and I to sell products for larger companies just as if they were our own in a way. For the sale of these products you get a commission which can be anywhere from 1%-90% depending on the product, company, and specific affiliate offer. Amazon.com was the main pioneer of online affiliate marketing. By Feb of 1998 Amazon, had attracted more than 25,000 webmasters as affiliates giving them amazing publicity in exchange for a small commission on sales. By 2004, 6 years later, they had amassed over 900,000 affiliates selling products for them. The great thing about affiliate marketing instead of marketing your own product, is that there are few worries. You don't have to ship products out, and you have no customer support worries. You just sell the product and thats it. Now, it's not as easy as it may seem. You can't just slap a page together direct random traffic to it and expect to earn hundreds of dollars a week. There is plenty to learn in the industry to convert your products into sales.

Competition:

Since it is so easy to slap a web page together, add a few links to products and then try making sales, it seems like everyone and their mother are getting into affiliate marketing. This makes it quite difficult sometimes to outrank your competition on search engines and get people to buy the product from your page instead of the hundreds or thousands of other sites promoting the same exact product(s). Thats why search engine optimization as well as a good marketing strategy is needed for you to become a full time affiliate marketer. Check out our guides on Search engine optimization as they will really help you overcome a large portion of your competition.

Finding Products to sell:

There are literally over 50,000 companies on the web that offer some sort of affiliate program. There are companies such as Overstock and Amazon who have thousands of affiliates, and then companies like your local Mom & Pop market who may have one or 2. It is up to you to find the products, companies, and payout rates that fit into your plan. I will list just a few of the more popular websites to find these affiliate offers and explain what the advantages of each are:

Commission Junction is probably the oldest and most popular portal for affiliate programs. There are thousands and thousands of companies that you can find throu Cj.com. You basically just register an account, confirm the account, and start selecting companies you would liek to work with. CJ will tell you when you are approved and then give you the referral codes for each companies products. Its very simple and easy to use.

Linkshare is also one of the more popular affiliate portals out there. It works basically the same way as CJ.com does. Linkshare is known for having more direct product links ulike CJ which tends to have links to the store itself.

If you are into selling information products, and products which are distributed online such as ebooks, memberships, guides, etc, then Clickbank is right for you. All you do is register an account with them, and then browse their thousands of products. Select the product you wish to sell, and they will give you your url. The great thing about Ebooks and information products is that since there are no manufacturing costs per item for the owners, they usually offer anywhere from 25-85% commission. That means that you will often get more money per sale then the person who created the product!

- Directly through the company
The above links are affiliate portals which mange affiliate programs for various vendors. There are, however, companies which offer their affiliate program directly to the affiliate. These companies often pay out a larger percentage since there is no middleman. These take a little more time to locate, but they are usually worth the effort. The best way to find such companies is to simply use Google, and search for the product or company you are looking for. Then simply look around on their page for the link saying "affiliates" or "partners".

Some other great places to find affiliate products and companies are:

2 Different Strategies:

Marketing towards a Unique Niche
The advantage of marketing and selling products in a rather unique and untapped niche is the fact that you will have very little competition. The disadvantages of course are that the demand for your product is not all that great. Different marketers have different philosophies towards these strategies. The best way to go about marketing a lesser known product in a well defined niche is to do market research, and jump on new products as soon as they are released for sale.

What I like to do is use the Google Product search main page located at: http://google.com/products and look at the list of "A few of the items recently found with Google Product Search". Often times new items pop up here. Just keep reloading for a new list. You then can search for common keywords associated with that product by going here: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/ . Use the top keywords to create articles or content for your site and then suggest the product at the end of the article or content, with of course your affiliate link. Also link to a sales page you create for this product on all your articles or content pages.

Another Unique tool I love, is the new Google Checkout Trends search located at: http://checkout.google.com/trends/ The great thing about this tool is you can compare 2 products to see which is being purchased more via Google Checkout. If Crest and Colgate both sell a new type of toothpaste, and the Crest one is being bought more, according to Google Checkout Trends, it's probably easier for you to sell the Crest product over the Colgate one.

Marketing towards a broad, very popular Niche
Other marketers seem to prefer the idea of selling products that are in extremely high demand. This is great, in that you will have a ton of people looking to buy what you are selling, however, this also means that you will encounter a huge amount of competition.

So what is it that are considered high demand products?

An Ernst & Young study found that the most popular products bought online are:
- Computer related products (40%)
- Books (20%)
- Travel (16%)
- Clothing (10%)
- Recorded Music and Subscriptions (6%)
- Gifts (4%)
- Investment (4%)

Also information products like those found at Clickbank.com are seemingly in high demand. After all thats what people use the internet for mainly, to find information.

Things To Consider When Choosing a Product/Service to Market/Promote as well as a General Niche

- Do you know a lot about this Product/Service?
In order to sell other people on a product or service, you must know everything you possibly can about it. You need to be informed about the company behind it, pricing history, demand, how it works, etc. If you are not informed, then your sales page will reflect this and likely turn people away. Knowing about the product/service you are selling allows you to be more creative, building a site that looks professional, and writing selling points that will be so tempting towards your visitors that they will have little choice other than to buy from your site.

- Do you have a Passion. and Truly Recommend the Product/Service to Friends?
Although it is entirely possible to sell products or services that you don't believe in, it helps a great deal if you do. Being passionate about what you are selling will shine through to the sales page, and right to the potential buyers. A passion for what you are selling also makes it easier, and almost fun to set up a webpage to sell it. You are doing more then just trying to make money this way, you are also helping people find something you truly think will be a good purchase for them.

Does the Affiliate Have Cookies Enabled for Repeat Visitors?
What if someone clicks through to your affiliate link from your sales page, and is unsure if he/she wants to purchased the item? They don't buy it right away, and instead bookmark it or just go back to the vendors site a week later to purchase the product. Will you get credited for the sale and earn commission? The answer to this question depends on the vendor you are selling for. Many affiliate programs today will credit you for the sale in the example above. What they do is add a cookie to the visitors computer, so that if they come back at a later date the affiliate who referred them last will get credited for the sale. Choosing an affiliate that does offer cookies (usually 15-45 days for most) can mean the difference between making 10 sales and making 15. A recent marketing study done by TeamEarners.com back in December 2007 showed that nearly 30% of all purchases were made a day or more after the person initially visited the sales site.

- Is there a Good Tracking System?
One of the most important things to an affiliate is the tracking. If you are spending hundreds of dollars a month on Google Adwords to drive traffic to your sales page, you want to know just where the traffic is clicking, how long they stay on the page and what percentage of clickthroughs actually make a purchase. Clickbank.com offers great tracking stats, but other affiliates often don't. You want to know as soon as a visitor comes to your site and clicks the affiliate link, whether he/she made a purchase or not. On your own page you can add the code for Google Analytics (http://analytics.google.com), however once they click the affiliate link and leave your page, the tracking is dependent on the vendor you are the affiliate for.

- What Kind of Commission are you Earning and how Big ticket an Item is it?
Its usually much better to sell a product that costs $10 and pays $8 (80% commission) then a product that sells for $100 and pays $15 (15% commission). The higher the percent of the sale price the better a deal for you as an affiliate usually. Having said this certain hot products may be good to jump onto if you think you can make an easy sale, even if the commission level is low.

What Type of Affiliate Program is is? Straight Line, Multi-Level, or Residual?
Different affiliate programs pay out in different ways and offer different opportunities. The earnings you make per sale may not always be the only thing to consider when choosing an affiliate program. Here are the 3 Main Types of Affiliate setups:

1. Straight Line
These are your typical affiliate programs. They pay a flat rate per sale, and thats it. These are great for people who know how to make quick sales, and can do it over and over again without much trouble.

2. Multi-Level
Multi-Level Affiliate programs, often referred to as MLM's are a way for affiliates to earn from sales, as well as referring other affiliates. Many Multi-Level affiliate programs pay out several levels deep. This means if you refer someone to become an affiliate, they refer someone, and they also refer someone, and they all make sales, you will share in their commissions. Teamearners for example is considered a Multi-Level affiliate program in that it pays $2 per referral, down 5 levels. Be careful though, as many Multi-Level affiliate programs are scams, and potentially illegal in some jurisdictions if they are considered a pyramid scheme. True legitimate Multi-Level affiliate programs actually have a product that is worth the cost, they aren't just selling you the right to be an affiliate. MLMs can be extremely profitable and can eventually lead to not having to make many sales to continue earning large commissions. If you are good at recruiting other affiliates, then these programs can pay off substantially.

3. Residual
An example of a Residual affiliate program would be A vendor that offers an affiliate program for magazine subscriptions, and continuing to pay commission each year for that sale if the person renews their subscription annually. Once again TeamEarners is an example of a residual affiliate program. It is a membership that costs $13 every 6 months. If someone you refer renews their membership in 6 months you get commission for that as well. These programs are for people good at marketing, who want to build a residual stream of revenue so that later on, even if they slow up their affiliate marketing work, they will still be earning commission.

The Internet marketing Niche is extremely competitive
This is because the people doing the marketing in this area are all experts at it. Usually stay away from this area unless you have a unique product you feel will be a must buy for marketers.

Check out the competition
If you want to start selling an ebook about teen weight loss, then do a Google search and see if there are any other ebooks out there for the same thing, or anyone else selling this same product (if it is not a unique product you created). If there is no competition, then you are on the right track, if you think there is a good market for your product. If there are competitors then explore their website, sales techniques, and even buy their product. Is your product you are marketing better, or could you sell the same product in a better way? If so, move forward with your plans.

Check the Google Page Ranks of Competitors
When you do the search for "teen weight loss" or "teen weight loss guide" check out the top 5-10 sites listed in Google. Then check out their pagerank. Do these sites have a high Google PR? Do you think you could rank better then most of these to at least crack the top 10 for this search term? If so, then go forward with your plans. You can quickly check the PageRank of your potential competitors by using Seochat's free online tool at http://www.prchecker.info/check_page_rank.php .

The 3 Earning Models:

- Pay-per-Sale

The Pay-per-sale commission structure is exactly what it sounds like. You are paid a percentage based on the sale price of the product you are promoting. The percentage can vary, but for some products the percentage you earn per sale can be up to 90%, meaning for a $100 product, you would earn $90. Some products pay a lot less percentage than this, but accumulatively your earnings can become quite substantial as more sales result from your referrals. Pay Per Sale models are the most frequent models used by companies.

Examples of Places to find Pay per sale affiliate programs are:

- Pay-per-Lead or Action

Abbreviated CPA often times for "Cost per action". Pay-per-lead programs allow affiliates to earn a set amount if you send a visitor to a merchants site and the visitor completes a required action by the merchant such as signing up for email, free trial, or even a free service. Lead generation is a great way to make money because it usually does not require a purchase by the visitor. In recent years this has been falling out of favor because in general leads have not been leading to as many sales online.

Examples of where to find CPA advertiser affiliate programs at are:

- Pay-per-Click

Pay-per-click has been falling out of favor over the last few years, but is used for some merchants. Pay-per-click commissions result from a visitor to your site clicking on an ad for the merchant. The price per click is fixed and the visitor usually has to be unique in a specified amount of time.

Examples would be:

There are other programs that exist, but these three commission structures are the most widely used.

Getting traffic to view your products:

Free Traffic:

Ok, well I wish I could say there was an easy way to get thousands of free hits to your affiliate marketing pages daily, but there really isn't. Just like any website, you need to work your butt off to get traffic.

- Search Engine Optimization - By using various tricks and tips, one can increase their chances of ranking higher in the various search engines, including the most important one, Google.com. There are literally hundreds of little things you can do in order to increase your ranking for various terms and phrases in google. Check out the SEO Guide, and feel free to ask any questions you may have in the Expert help section of out forum.

- Offer Free information to Suck your Buyers In - by offering free guides, free ebooks, or just daily tips on certain things, you can attract a large amount of interested customers to your site. For instance if you are selling products related to mens health, then you can attract visitors and get repeat visitors by writing daily mens health articles. You can then submit these articles to the various free article directories that we discuss at the forums, and add a link to your site in the "about the author" section. Not only will people get to your site by visiting the article directories, but web authors like yourself may publish your article and link to your site on their sites as well.

- There are other great ways to get free traffic that we discuss in another guide that you have access to at: http://www.talkgold.com/forum/r205520-.html.

Paid Traffic:

So, you want to make money and have some money to invest? Google Adwords may be for you. http://adwords.google.com. Google will allow you to advertise your webpages in their search listings as well as on other webpages related to your pages. Be careful though and be sure to do a lot of testing before upping your daily budget. As an example of how this works: You have a webpage which sells Hand made chocolate candy. You simply set up a campaign with Adwords so that whenever phrases like "Homemade candy," "Chocolate," "buy chocolate," "buy candy," etc are searched for in Google your ad will come up as well. When someone clicks your ad on Google you will be charged an amount dependent on certain factors, including your maximum bid. Many of the great online affiliate earners are using Adwords as a primary source of their traffic.

A few tips for when you use Adwords to drive traffic to your site:
- When it works and your products convert well, you can scale by raising your daily budget, and thus clicks.

- Try and stay away from top competitive keywords for $1 to $2 per click. It is better to market directly to your Niche since these terms will convert much better then broader terms usually.

Giving away Free Guides/Ebooks in order to Build a List to Later Sell To

One of the best ways to become a big time affiliate marketer, or even gain prospects to sell your own products to is by giving away free products and creating lists. This is one of the most under appreciated marketing tactic there is today. Here are the steps you should follow in an example we give:

You want to sell your an ebook as an affiliate about how to get 6-pack abs.

1. Goto an autoresponder service. Here is a short list of some of the better one:
- http://Aweber.com - Best, with the most features. Touts a 99.34% email sent percentage
- http://www.sparklist.com
- http://www.getresponse.com - Has a free version with ads on bottoms of emails

and signup for their service so that you can create a mailing list. We recommend Aweber, even though they charge a monthly fee for 2 reasons. First, they are very reliable and the service gives you extraordinary tools, and second, they send the emails for you, so you don't have to worry about having your server flagged for spam incorrectly.

2. Set up a website with a solid domain name. Ie. 6-pack-abs.com. On the site give away a free guide about the 5 tips you need to know in order to get on your way to a six-pack. In order for visitors to get your guide, they just give you their Name and Email address. This will put their email address into your Aweber account as a member of your mailing list, and they will automatically be sent the guide you have created.

3. Now, have the autoresponder that is part of the Aweber membership, a few days later, email them seeing if they have started on their way to a six pack. Give them a few more tips.

4. A few days later have the autoresponder email them again and suggest the ebook you are selling, tell them, how it worked for you, why it is such a great buy, and how much it improved your self esteem and body image.

5.Rake in the dough.

All you need to do is bring targeted traffic to your free guide website, either by article writing, Google Adwords, or however else you wish to generate traffic, create your auto responder message series at Aweber.com or a similar autoresponder, mailing list manager, and watch the money begin to come in. Track your conversion rates and change up your sales letters to see which ones work best for your customer base.

Tips to increase your Sale/Traffic Ratio:

There are several ways to make sure you get the most out of the pages which market your products for you:

#1 - Be sure to not overwhelm your viewer. Don't place a dozen products on a page and then give information about them all. What you want is a simple webpage for one product and a description of that product that makes the person want to pull out their credit card right now.

#2 - Act as though the price could go up at any time, and convince them that they must buy the product now to avoid paying a higher price in the future. Once they leave your page the chances of them coming back to buy at a later date is almost zero, so get them while they are there!

#3 - Professionalism - Don't let your viewers know you are just an affiliate for the product. Present to them a professional looking page in a professional manner. You want them to think that your site is the only one where they can buy this product.

#4 - Don't make your customers jump through hoops to finally get to the order page. Each additional page they have to view before typing in their credit card number will decrease your shot of a sale by 25% on average. A simple "Click to purchase link taking them to the companies checkout page is the best way to go.

#5, If possible after the purchase of the product direct your customers to a different, yet complementary product you are selling. Once they have their credit card out and are spending money, they are more likely to spend again within minutes of the initial order. Also be sure to try and collect their email address for your mailing list. Have a link saying something like : Be notified when similar product are made available at xxxxx.com.

#6 Do Not Over Hype a Product - Over hyping a product will, 9 times out of 10, make a person leave your site never to come back. It is one thing to describe the product as something you must have, but another to tell the person their life will change forever and that they must buy the product right away. Just don't overdo your sales pitch.

#7 Turn up Early - Be one of the first to start selling a particular product. This will at least keep the competition out for a little while and let you capitalize on less supply. Some of the top marketers make it a habit of finding the newest products to market and slapping up a professional lookign page within hours.

#8 One very good technique is to gradually lead your visitors towards a purchase. Start out by presenting a problem that they probably have, discuss a solution that has worked for you, and end the sales page or article with a link that is a call to action, such as "How I was helped," or "Find out more". Understand that you, the affiliate, has a job of warming the person up, so that they are ready to buy, not actually selling them on a product. The actual merchants page that you direct them to is supposed to actually sell them on the product. Just make them feel that they need something.

The following is a list of numerous different ways you can make money online. I will explain each and we will continue to add to this list and update each category with new information all the time. The list is in no particular order. The other guides in the Guide section will go into more details about several of these money making concepts.:

#1 - Write an E-book:
Every day there are dozens of new E-books published. Some sell for pennies, while others can sell for as much as $1000. To get started writing an Ebook, you must first learn about Clickbank.com. As an E-book author, you can use Cliickbank as sort of an intermediary between, you the seller, and the buyer, as well as affiliates. Clickbank will manage your product sales, as well as pay out any affiliate commissions to people who would like to sell your ebook for commission. The power of offering a large affiliate bonus is what you need to harness as an ebook author. Since each additional ebook you sell does not cost you any additional money (No variable costs), this means that you can get away with paying large commission for affiliates to sell your product. We recommend that you offer a commission of at least 40% to affiliates. This means that if you are selling your ebook for $50, and your affiliates sell your ebook, you will take in $30, and they will earn $20 per sale. Considering you did not work and didn't spend a dime for advertising, this is quite a good business strategy.

Of course you won't be getting affiliates to promote your product, nor will you have many satisfied customers if in fact your ebook is no good. Don't just write an ebook for the sake of making a ton of money. If you do this you will probably tend to write about stuff that you, yourself are not an expert on. Pick a subject in which you consider yourself an expert on, and put together detailed information on this subject. Once you have completed your ebook, you will want to put it in PDF format so that people can not easily copy your text and infringe on your unique written content. Check out the following url for a free program which will convert your documents in Windows to a PDF file: http://www.primopdf.com

Once the ebook is written and added to the clickbank marketplace you will want to start promoting it. In your promotions you should look for direct sales as well as affiliates to sell your product for you. Google Adwords is a great way to get those direct sales, as well as advertising on any sites you find that are related to your topic. To find affiliates however, it takes some time as well as people skills. What I recommend is you signup to http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/ and start posting and communicating with people. Offer some of the top marketers your product for free in exchange for a review as well as them considering promoting your ebook to their lists of clients. If you can get one or two major internet marketers to adopt your product and recommend it to their lists, then you could be well on your way to major success within days.

#2 - Buying and selling Domains (will be discussed in much further detail in the Domain name guide we have)
Domain names have been amazing investments over the last 10 years. Since 2002 the average yearly increase in domain name prices have gone up 87% per year. Thats about 8 times that of the S & P 500! There are 2 ways to buy domains:

- Register them yourself from what is not claimed yet. Just goto Register.com and search for domain names that are available. It's pretty hard to find anything too valuable as there have been domain name investors picking up the top domains all over the world for the last 10 years. Every now and then though you can find a good domain, register it at namecheap.com for $8.88 and resell it quickly on the various forums for $20-$40. You just need patience, and a good eye for names that will get attention on the resale market.

- Purchase domains from resellers. There are dozens of sites out there that act as marketplaces for domains names. We will list these in our Separate domain name guide later. Basically domains can sell for anythign from $5 to $15 million on the open resale market. Porn.com for example sold for $9.5 million on May 29th 2007.

#3 - Write your own blog
Blogging has made several millionaires throughout the world. If you have a subject that you know a lot about then consider writing a blog. A little promotion, and word of mouth advertising can make it take off in no time. You have to be consistent and post on a daily basis to keep your readers inetersted and coming back. We have a guide about blogging which will take you through all the steps. Your main sources of income for a blog will be text link sales, small banner sales, and of course Google Adsense.

#4 - Become an Ebay Entrepreneur
If you can find bulk discounts on products and then resell them on ebay, then you have a business in a snap. Remember though that there is a ton of competition out there, so its not all that easy to find products that you can sell on Ebay for a huge profit. Usually the best bet is to goto flea markets and garage sales looking for collectibles and products that would fetch a good markup on ebay. This takes a lot of trial and error, however there are literally tens of thousands of people who make a living on ebay by doing just that.

#5 - Participate in "Get Paid to" Programs
These include programs that pay you to do simple tasks like, filling out surveys, surfing the net, reading email ads, clicking links, etc. Although there is money in these types of programs, you will not become rich, nor will you be able to replace a full time job with the earnings. Most of these rely on a lot of recruiting of downlines to succeed.

#6 - Sell your Skills
Can you program? Do you have the ability to design professional looking banner ads or graphics for websites? If so then there is plenty of money to be made. There are hundreds of thousands of webmasters looking for designers and programmers. If you have one of these skills you should be able to find relatively constant work as long as you are a good worker and are up to date with all the new trends. Here are a couple websites in which you can offer your services to webmasters:

For programmers:

For Graphic artists:

#7 Run an Internet Forum.
Just like this forum, Talkgold.com, there are thousands of other forums out there. The webmasters usually don't run the sites to lose money. Forums can be hard to monetize, however Google Adsense can usually cover the hosting costs of most of them. Running a forum is not an easy task. There are a lot of things a forum owner needs to worry about. Forum rules, moderators, subjects, bringing in traffic, etc. It takes a lot of work, but forums also seem to generate residual traffic once they become popular, if well moderated. We have a whole guide about Making money running forums at: http://www.talkgold.com/forum/r202739-.html

#8 Sell Products as an affiliate
You can sell products for large companies like amazon for commission, or even very small individuals at clickbank.com. There are thousands of companies and individuals offering anywhere from 1% to 100% of sales you make though your website. The top affiliate marketers online earn well over $1 million a year. Check out our Affiliate guide for more details: http://www.talkgold.com/forum/r191974-.html

#9 Take photos and sell them online
Thats right. Do you have a knack for taking amazing photographs? Do you think people would be willing to pay for them? If so, you can earn quite a bit of money selling the rights to your photos online. As a guide to what you can earn, agencies pay, on average, between 65% and 85% of the sale value. Some of the most productive stock photographers earn in excess of $5,000 per month, doing what they love. Here are a few websites in which you can sell your photos to the world:

- http://submit.shutterstock.com - The most popular photo marketplace. Get paid $0.25 per download of your photo
- http://www.bigstockphoto.com - They pay between $0.50 and $1 per person who downloads your photo for use.
- http://www.dreamstime.com - They pay you between 50-80% of revenue they they in selling your photos.

- http://www.stockxpert.com - Will pay 50% of each sale you make
- http://www.alamy.com - Over 11 million images in Stock - Pays 65%
- http://www.123rf.com - Offers two payment systems: 50% of individual high res photo sale, and $.36 per subscription download.

There are also places to sell video clips if you are into video filming. Shutterstock is one of the best placs to sell your inventory of videos. You usually will earn between $10-$50 per person who downloads your video. More information can be found at: http://submit.shutterstock.com/footage_info.mhtml

#10 Work as a customer supporter for various internet startups.
If you goto the sites listed above like Rentacoder.com, and elance.com there are often webmasters hiring people for customer support. In this kind of work you will answer peoples emails, process orders, and take care of any questions they may have about the product or service you are representing. Pay can vary greatly, and there is a lot of competition, so don't hold your breath on making thousands of dollars a month. One great site which acts as a middleman between companies and technical support personnel is: http://workingsol.com. If you have customer support skills then apply there. Also http://Arise.com will pay you for offering phone, web, and email support for companies.

#11 - Create an information based website
Create a website about your favorite topic. Explain your topic and write articles, upload pictures and give all the information you can find about this product. Use SEO methods to drive traffic to your site and then slap Google Adsense ads on the site or sell your own ads. An example of an information site would be http://investopedia.com. Of course it had to take the people running Investopedia.com months and months to put together the thousands of pages of information they have, but they sure bring in a ton of cash from targeted financial ads. If you are looking for free content you can use on your site without having to write it or create it yourself, check out the list of article sites we list in the (Getting traffic to your site) guide. Also wikipedia has a database of 1,720,886 freely reuseable media files located at: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page. You can often hire people to create content for you to save you time. Be careful and always ask for sample writings before hiring anyone. Rentacoder.com, and elance.com and great places to find content writers.

#12 Get paid for Blogging about certain advertisers/products, and posting at forums
Blogs are more and more becoming a prime advertising tool. People will pay blog owners to give them a favorable review about their website or product. Thats right, you can actually sell fake gold from a game. Games like http://worldofwarcraft.com, which has virtual gold, and http://Secondlife.com, which uses a currency called Linden. #14 Charge a fee to access part of your website
Even though the Web offers a huge amount of free content, if your content is unique and valuable, you can charge money for online access to this content. If you’re not comfortable charging for all of your content, offer a premium area or sell critical bits piece by piece. Some newspapers, for example, offer free online access to their daily editions but charge a fee to view their archives. Another example of this is TeamEarners/Talkgold. We charge for access to the TeamEarners folders.

#15 Create a Mailing list and selling adverting at the bottom of it
Have a website about a certain topic? Well then why not put a link to sign up to your weekly newsletter. In these newsletters you can offer weekly updates about whatever your site is about. At the bottom you can place an ad, and sell this space to potential advertisers. Email marketing is very valuable if the advertiser knows that their ads are targeted as well as read by the recipients. Here is a site that lists dozens of free mailing list softwares if your hosting plan does not come with one already: http://www.sofotex.com/download/Emai...Mailing_Lists/

This could be videos, audio, images or articles that you write. Note that they only accept the better content and pay anywhere from $2-$20 usually per submission that they accept. Make sure your work is original and if its an article it is as professional as possible. It may take a few tries to get something accepted, but once you do you will know what they are looking for. http://www.zango.com/destination/Provider/ is also another site that will pay for videos, audio, games and applications whih are original.

Also Sites like http://metacafe.com, http://vume.com, and http://revver.com will pay you for uploading unique videos dependent on how many views and interest it generates. Some people have made a few hundred dollars for just uploading one video.

#19 Get Paid to Blog for other peoples websites
Thats right, there are plenty of blogs out there where the webmaster wants more activity. What do they do? They offer cash for People to write consistent blog entries for them. Check out http://www.creative-weblogging.com for more details

#20 Become A Paid About.com Guide
Become a paid guide writing articles for About.com. Compensation depends on the growth of your page views. Paid guides, if accepted will make a minimum of $725/month. Some guides make as much as $100,000 a year.

-Original content (articles, reviews, FAQs, tutorials) written by you
-A blog featuring your unique voice and personality
-A directory of the best content in your topic, whether it be your own work or links to other sites
-A discussion forum where you serve as community leader

#21 - Join a Paying Social Network site

That's right. There are sites similar to myspace, but they pay you dependent on how much traffic you get to your page as well as other things. One of these sites is http://dada.net. They use Google ads on members pages and blogs and pay a percent of earnings.

#22 - Get paid for answering peoples questions, and helping them with searches.

There are several sites out there, which operate sort of like Answers.yahoo.com, but pay you cash for answering peoples everyday questions.

- Sites like http://knowbrainers.com, will pay you for participating in the community and answering questions. Optionally you can answer questions through the RSS feeds on your own blog.

#23 - Invest into Hyip's and Autosurfs
This is a rather risky way of making money online. There are plenty of Hyips (High yield Investment Programs) out there. Many are build on pyramid scheme foundations, but if you get in them early you can make very good profits a lot of the time. Don't invest more then you can afford to lose. It is a gamble. To find all the new HYIPs check out sites like http://Rankhyips.com, and http://Goldpoll.com. There are forums that discuss these programs which includes this very forum you are at, Talkgold.com, as well as http://MoneymakerGroup.com and [url]http://hyipdiscussion.com

#24 - Multi Level Marketing Programs (MLM's)
MLMs are basically affiliate programs which offer commission, for not only direct sales but also for sales that people you recruit make, sometimes down several levels. Be careful because many MLMs don't really have a product worth the price they charge, which would classify them as a pyramid scheme. MLMs which offer a product that is worth what you pay, and do not emphasize recruiting over the product itself are perfectly legal and can really make you a ton of money. An example would be TeamEarners.com itself. Teamearners pays out $2 per referral, 5 levels deep. The great thing about program like this is that if you just refer one person who is great at marketing, you could possibly be making thousands of dollars a month.

#25 Become a Researcher and give feedback to Major companies

Google Market Research - https://survey.google.com/wix/p0822776.aspx

(A) Google will pay everyday people to give feedback about their experiences within Google.com. We don't have much data on how easy or hard it is to get accepted, but the pay is real good. From there site it claims:

It depends on the type of study, but typically we pay $75 for each hour that you spend with a Google researcher, either in person or on the phone. Most studies last for one to one-and-a-half hours. We don't pay for your travel time, or travel expenses, though. For online surveys, which you complete from your own computer, the amount varies, depending on the length of the survey.

Different types of studies they do include, the following, and some may be in person, over the phone on online:

- Usability study at a Google office: Typically, you will use a Google product or prototype, and give feedback on it. You could either meet 1-on-1 with a Google researcher, or work as part of a group. Most studies are done at our HQ in Mountain View California, but we have offices all over the world, so please feel free to sign up for this type of study even if you don't live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Remote usability study: A Google researcher will call you while you sit at your computer, and ask you to try out a Google product or prototype via your internet connection, and give feedback on it. You can be anywhere in the world, but need to have a high-speed internet connection.

- Field study: Google researchers will come to visit you, and interview you about how you use computers or the Web. We won't just show up at your door - we will always check with you, and make an appointment. Again, most of our researchers are based at our HQ in Mountain View California, but we have offices all over the world, so please feel free to sign up for this type of study even if you don't live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

- Online survey: you answer questions on the web or in an email, from your own computer.

(B) Microsoft Market Research - http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/marketing_research

Get paid from Microsoft for providing feedback on their products. The Microsoft Online Research Panel is a community of more than 95,000 technology/business professionals and software users who provide Microsoft with valuable feedback on products and services through online surveys. Unlike Google, they don;t mention how much they will pay you, but you do have to be a resident of the US or Canada.

#27 Online Casino Scalping
Online casino's often offer you bonus's for signing up. Some match your deposit, some give $50, and others give all sorts of deals. Most have rules that you need to spend the free money "X" times before cashing it out. They do this because most people get addicted and keep playing, losing the bonus money as well as the money they put into the site. If you follow the strategies in Our separate Casino Scalping guide you will learn just how to walk away with the money you deposited as well as most of the bonus money they gave you for signing up. You can really make a ton of money since there are so many online casino's out there, if you follow a certain set of strict guidelines outlined in the casino scalping guide.

#28 Come up with a creative, unique, and crazy idea for a website.
Sometimes the simplest ideas can make you rich if it's unique and gives people a reason to tell their friends about it. Take for example Alex Tew's Milliondollarhomepage.com idea. All he did was sell ads in a unique way and allowed people to track his quest for $1 million. Media outlets picked up on it and soon almost everyone on the internet was talking about it. Of course it's not easy to come up with an idea that no one else had yet, and even harder to decide if it's worth your time and money to pursue, but the few who do, can make a ton of cash.

#29 Sports Arbitrage Betting
As you know, sports betting can be a fun and exciting way to add to your entertainment while watching a sporting event. I bet most of you didn't know that you can make money with it without even risking a thing. Thats right! Arbitrage means, an opportunity to buy something in one market, and then turn around and sell it for a higher price at another market, which values the sale item higher. Basically thats what you are doing in sports betting arbitrage. There are hundreds of online sportsbooks out there, and they all have different odds to certain sporting event. One sportsbook may give a favorable odd to Team A, while another will give a favorable odd to their opponent, Team B. This means if you bet on the underdog at each sportsbook, you will walk away with a profit. We discuss this topic further in the sports arbitrage guide we have.

#30 Become an Online Poker champ
When most people hear the word poker, they automatically think of the word "Gamble". While it is true that Poker is a form of gambling, the newly popular forms of Poker such as Texas Holdem, Omaha, and 7 Card Stud can drastically tilt the odds in your favor if you learn strategies and become skilled at the games. Probably the most popular online poker site is http://PartyPoker.com. Here you can play all sorts of different kinds of poker as well as participate in tournaments or play for free in order to test out your strategies. Note that the atmosphere is different in live cash poker rooms then it is in free rooms. When money is at stake your free game strategy probably will turn out different results. Practice on the lower blind tables first and once you feel you have a good working strategy move up to the higher blind tables. Once you start making some money, always remember to cash out at least half of your profits. Don't enter the no limit rooks unless you feel extremely confident in your strategy.

Some sites we recommend for learning about the different kinds of poker and strategies for them are:

#31 Get Paid Commission for helping friends and Job Seekers find a job
Sites like http://H3.com and http://JobThread.com will connect employers with prospective employees, many of whom are already employed and not actively job-hunting, via networking with the people who know these qualified candidates. Rewards for referring a candidate who gets hired range from a few hundred dollars to as much as five Thousand dollars. This is a great way to break into the recruiting business with no overhead. JobThread is intriguing in that they can set up a job board for your site or your organization at no cost to you and you don't even need a website. You determine the posting fees and split the revenue with them.

#32 Participate in Online skills Contests
There are literally hundreds of contests each week online. Some which pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to the top winners. Most of these contests are based around photoshop, and graphics skills or writing. Here are some linsk to where you can find a ton of contests with cash prizes over $50 a piece:
- http://www.worth1000.com/corpaward.a...play=photoshop - Dozens of corporate sponsored contests per week, ranging from photoshop, text, multimedia, and photography categories
- http://www.photoshoptalent.com - More weekly photoshop contests
- http://www.sitepoint.com/contests/?s=& = SitePoints Contest marketplace folder
- http://photoshopcontest.com

#33 Website flipping
Buying, fixing up homes and reselling them has become quite a popular way to make money in America. You can do the same things with web properties. Basically how it works is you purchase an old beat up website, or a website which has potential, optimize them for search engines, buy traffic, get backlinks, and make it popular and then sell it for a huge profit. Some people may buy a site, make the appropriate changes and then resell within a week, while others may work on the project for a couple years. Either way it is very possible to have 100%, 200% or even 1000%+ returns on an investment if you know what you are doing.

Flipping a site will involve the following four steps:

1. ID a property to purchase.
2. Evaluate, negotiate, and complete the sale.
3. Add value to the property/site.
4. Find a buyer and sell the property/site.

You can buy websites at several different sites dedicated to this kind of thing. Here are a few:
- http://www.dealasite.com

After a site is purchased you will want to do 5 main things to increase its value
- Fix any appearance problems with the site. New logo, templates, or a completely new design can change a bland site into a vibrantly proffessional looking site.
- Optimize the site for search engines (See our SEO guide)
- Either purchase some back links to high PR sites as we mention in other guides, or trade links with higher pr sites
- Purchase advertising to increase daily readers or members
- Optimize the site for better earnings by changing ad placement, and/or adding addition ads.

Once you are ready to sell, create a very details informative marketplace listing at Sitepoint. We recommend you featur it for an extra $25. Be honest, give stats and you should get what it's worth which will hopefully be more then what you paid.

#34 Work for Google Taking pictures and submitting info about Local Business's
Google just recently launched their Business Referral Representative program. Basically all you do is walk into a business, take a few pictures, get information such as payment methods accepted, and store hours, tell the owner/manager about the adwords program, and upload the info to Google maps. You will get $2 for this, and another $8 when the Business owner confirms that you were there. Not much work for a $10 reward. If you live in a large town then you could make hundreds of dollars a week doing this. More information can be found at: http://www.google.com/services/local...ls/repfaq.html

#35 Post at forums and sell your Signature as an ad
Many of the larger forums have members who actually sell their signature space. Signatures on forums that do not use the nofollow tag can be of great value to webmasters. Not only do member names with hundreds of posts offer hundreds of backlinks to ones site for SEO purposes, but thay are also a great way to drive traffic to your site. We recommend checking out http://www.big-boards.com to find all the largest forums out there. See which ones allow signatures and register an account. Participate in the forums and once you have a large post count offer your signature for sale. We have seen signatures sell for between $5-$30 per month dependant on the forum and number of posts a user has. If you have 30 forum accounts at various forums that you regularly post with and sell 2 signature links per forum that wuld be $300 - $1800 per month in earnings!

#36 Register and Park domains with Traffic
It is actually semi-easy to find domain names, especially misspellings, that have "type in" traffic to them. Considering domains run about $8 a year, you don't need all that much traffic to monetize a domain for profit. Come up with misspellings for the most popular sites out there, register the domain name and then park it at a domain garage such as

An example of a misspelling for Google.com would be goohle.com. Goohle.com is said to get approximately 8500 unique visits a day from people hitting the wrong key. Those 8500 visits a day should fetch the owner about $50-$100 per day for the rest of their life. Do you know of a hot website that is growing fast? Then register all the misspelling for that domain. There are also other ways to register domains with traffic which includes, finding expired domains that had traffic from the previous site that was on it. We discuss all this in our other guides in more detail.

#37 Finding ebay typos and buying real cheap to resell

Ebay auctions are able to generate the maximum price for sellers because anyone can easily search and find the exact thing they need. This is why almost all products which are the same end up getting a price within 2-3% of eachother. There is an exception to this however. Sometimes auction posters missspell or make a typo in the items title.

For example: If someone is selling a Super nintendo on ebay, they may accidentally title the auction as "Brand new Supper Nintendoo" Notice The Extra "p" in Super, and the extra "o" at the end of nintendo. Now if someone is searching ebay for "super Nintendo" this one auction will not be displayed. It makes the auction extremely hard to find, thus a low level of competition between potential bidders, meaning a much lower end price, usually.

Now all you need to do is find these missspelled auctions? How do you do that? Here are a few free tools which search ebay for typos:

Look for items which are well under the usual price that item sells for in correct spelled ebay auctions. If you think you can get it at a price that will turn you a profit after ebay fees and shipping, then place a bid.

#38 Suggestive Selling on Yahoo Answers
Goto http://answers.yahoo.com and register an account You can then sign up for clickbank.com or another affiliate network like Cj.com. Once this is done, look for questions in yahoo answers that you can honestly recommend a product to. If someone is asking a question about forex trading, and where to learn about it, goto clickbank, and look for forex trading related ebooks. Find one and then answer the question something like this:

I too got interested in forex trading. There is a lot of good information out there, but also a lot of people looking to take advantage of you. The one ebook that really taught me a lot, and helped me earn my first set of profits was http://your-affiliate-url-here.com

I find it easier to look for products at clickbank, and then searching for terms related to that product at Yahoo Answers. You would be surprised how easy it can be to make a sale since you pretty much have someone looking for the exact information you are offering a product for.

#39 Suggest Domain Names for other People
As crazy as it may seem, a lot of people have trouble coming up with good domain names. Afterall most good .com domains are taken, so you must come up with 2 to 3 word .com domains, or go for a .net, .org, etc. Here is a site that actually pays you $25 for suggesting domain names to their clients if their client uses the domain you pick for them:

http://www.pickydomains.com

#40 Review Products and get Paid
There are so many reviews out there today, but most of them are biased. For example, people create websites to review products, and then link to their affiliate url selling that product. This is a good way to make money, however the reviews are of course biased since the reviewer makes money if you buy the given product. On the other hand you can make money by giving unbiased reviews. You get paid no matter if you liked or disliked the product or service. Here are a couple sites that will pay you for your unbiased reviews:

- http://www.reviewstream.com - Pays $2 per review
- http://www.softwarejudge.com/rules - Pays up to $50 per review

What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics shows you how people found your site, how they explored it, and how you can enhance their visitor experience. Improve your website return on investment, increase conversions, and make more money on the web.

With over 80 reports, your free Google Analytics account will track visitors through your site, and will keep track of the performance of your marketing campaigns - whether they're AdWords campaigns, email campaigns, or any other advertising program. With this information, you'll know which keywords are really working, which ad text is the most effective, and where your visitors are dropping off during the conversion process. Don't be fooled by the fact that this functionality is available to you for free - Google Analytics is a full-featured, powerful analytics package.

AdWords advertisers can find all of these benefits from within their AdWords account - Google Analytics has been fully integrated with AdWords. All of your reports and settings are available from the Analytics tab.

Squidoo is becoming more and more popular, and can prove very useful for the Marketeer.

So, having decided you want to create a lens or two (or hundreds if you really want), how do you go about it? Simple, sign up at www.squidoo.com and create a lens.

Modules - these are the bits that come pre-formatted with titles and suggestions for what goes in them - Make sure you do alter the default title of each module - If you don't want to put anything in the module, delete it. - Have a look and see what modules are available and what they do, there are dozens, if not hundreds! (many, many, many more than previously mentioned - just go to add module and scroll thru the tabs, each of which usually has a few pages too)

Content - same rules apply here as they would anywhere, without unique content you can forget about visitors, and the more content the better. If you have a lot of text, split it up and create a few more text/write modules to put it in. (it's rumoured that search engines like this as they give emphasis to the module headers in results). Add images to each write module, you know a sea of text isn't inviting.

Affiliate marketing - Feel perfectly free to make it as commercial as you like, include the same affiliate ads that you have on your website or add others. The only restriction here is it has to be HTML, no java , no gambling links, and a few other common sense conditions. Avoid making it too spammy as if reported as spam it may get deleted along with your account. If you're new to affiliate marketing using squidoo's product modules may be a good start, though as the bucks mount up (they pay in dollars by paypal), you may start to resent them taking about 50% of it! Amazon and eBay modules do tend to perform well, though there are alternatives to using the squidoo ones. Squidutils provides a nice tool to create similar links to Amazon which you can add your own affiliate id to and link to the UK Amazon, which the normal squidoo module won't. The only downside using that tool is they take 20% of your clicks! You can also generate Ebay RSS feeds with your affiliate code and drop these in the RSS module to great effect!

There are dozens of links at Squidoo to give you tips, show you tutorials and give examples. Start by having a look at the top performing lenses and seeing what's in the top 100 of the category you're interested in and seeing what they look like.

I'd also recommend looking at some of the squidoo tutorials, there's a great one on basic squidoo html, one on advanced squidoo html, one on tweaking the css, just for a start and these will really show you how to alter the look and feel of a page and optimise the html/css available. Another popular one is about using eBay rss feeds with your affiliate id.

Rolling others lenses is a great start, as is joining each others fanclubs. Join, or even set up a 'group' which will feature all your output on squidoo.

One other thing - add some module or other to get user interaction, whether it's a comment module, poll or duel, getting interaction with visitors improves squidoo lensrank, which in turn should result in a higher PR. Plexo's aren't great methods of getting interaction, but polls are. Just make sure you alter the submission/participation settings so anyone can join in.

One final thing, when editing a lens, make sure in the right hand column you tick the button for 'cash' or you won't earn any royalties from squidoo!

Star (rating), favorite and fanclub others` lenses, and they will often reciprocate. That way the higher up the rankings your lens will go, the more it will get seen, and the more money can can earn.

Finally, once a lens is finished pop back every month or so and just freshen it up, this way search engines will give it favour again as they treat lenses a bit like blogs.

Google's users are Richer then Yahoo's

Posted by siteearner | 12:09 AM | | 0 comments »

The Findings

Just found out about this new market research study. It pretty much proves that advertising with Google Adwords will more then likely be a better investment then Yahoo's ad system if you are advertising a product or service for sale. Why? There is a simple reason. Google has a userbase of searchers who make more money, buy more online, and are older then the searchers that use Yahoo.com.

Some things to consider and learn from this study to become a better marketer:

- Yahoo caters to a younger crowd. If you are advertising a website or something that is directed more toward the 21 and under crowd, it will probably be better to use Yahoo's ad system. For example if you are advertising a video viewing website, a social network site like myspace, or even technology related sites, Yahoo may be your answer.

- Note that those young people today will eventually be older people tommorow? Most will probably stick with Yahoo, unless their service starts declining in quality compared to Google. Always stay on your toes because trends are always changing.

Recommendations:

Try to use both Adwords and Yahoo's advertising panel. Set up conversion tracking, but start your budget with Adwords at 2 times that of your Yahoo campaign if you are selling a product or service, and vice vera if you are advertising something that you are not charging people for. Adjust your budget ratio as you learn how well the campaigns are performing.

The Article:

Talk about a digital divide. Hitwise recently performed some analysis of the traffic patterns on the Google (NSDQ: GOOG) and Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) search engines. Google users tended to be older and spend more money online. Yahoo users, conversely, were often younger and spent less money online. Which is the better audience to have?

Heather Hopkins, VP of research at Hitwise, decided to correlate some findings regarding search engine use, age and affluence. The results aren't terribly surprising, but bring up some interesting questions. First, her data:

"I cross checked this data against our Lifestyle data. to be sure that we weren't missing the kids of these householders. Our Lifestyle data confirms that the groups that are highly indexed on Google tend to be older (55+) and the groups highly indexed on Yahoo! Search tend to be younger. I mentioned this to my husband and he asked if the Google users spend more online. Good question (he seems to think young people have no money)!...

As you can see Google's relative audience strengths - i.e. the groups over-indexed on Google.com relative to the online population - are those that are among the most likely to have spent more than $500 online. This indicates that Google users are more likely to be big online spenders.

This all begs the question: Why?

Why is it that Google users are likely to be older and spend more and the opposite for Yahoo? Is it the blend of services available? The result Hopkins finds of highly-indexed Google users being 55+ seems odd to me. My parents fall into that age bracket and hardly use the Internet for more than the most casual searches. Meanwhile, my peers, ranging from 25 to 40, seem to have adopted more of Google's services than our parents have. So when Hitwise says Yahoo users are younger, does that mean younger than 25? Younger than 20? Are teenagers the biggest users of Yahoo services?

Why would Microsoft want to buy a company that caters to teenagers? Granted, the 18-34 advertising bracket is highly coveted, as younger people are falling into the purchasing patterns they will likely follow for the rest of their lives. But older people, 34-54, generally have more disposable income.

All interesting stuff. What it actually means, obviously, is up to debate. Have at it.
